ANGLING.
GOOD SPORT ON LAKE ROTOMA.
ROTORUA, January 1. There is likely to be a rush of sportsmen to Lake Rotoma, where fine hauls of trout have lately been made. One basket brought in by a fisherman contained 16 rainbow trout from 5-Jlb to 111b in weight, in the pink of condition, and it created considerable envy on the part of less fortunate anglers. Rotoma is a lake some miles beyond llotoiti. The presence of trout in it is no new thing, but the water has not been accessible till lately. There is now an accommodation house on the shores and a boat on the lake.
There are other lakes in the district, Government officials say, where equally fine fishing can be obtained, but they have no^o far been used on account of tr"" Hiculty of getting to them. The h,amg on Rotorua itself with the rod is not very good at present, but on Tarawera both good fish and good sport are available.
