REVIEWS.
"Simple Simon," by Neil Lyons (London : John Lane. Christchurch : Whitcombe and Tombs.)
Everyone—that is, everyone with a sense of humour—should read this book. It is brimful of funny episodes, not of the boisterous, hilarious kind, but ofethe quiet, natural, unobtrusive sort, which, nevertheless, provides a good deal of amusement. Apart from humour, the book contains a good deal of , common sense and sound philosophy, expressed in the quaint and altogether , unusual style . peculiar to the : author. The various business undertakings of " Simple Simon," the family of " dead-beats " with which he contrives to surround himself, and his natural gift for calling a spade a spade, are a continual source of merriment for the reader. Those who are anxious to get an insight Into some phases p the manner of life of the poor of London can do so by perusing this very readable book. -,
