MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR,
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE. TUOOPS.

CAMBRIDGE^ Bay 6. t The camp was practically deserted this morning, the troops being out rehearsing Friday's field operations. The-, men are experiencing glorious weather. . General Godley telegraphed: —" £' have much pleasure in forwarding a message from his- Excellency, which should be convoyed to the troops and published. The Governor was very" pleased with the appearance and steadiness of all ranks at the parade for the presentation of the'colours on Sunday; more especially in view of the inclement weather the previous day. His Excellency wished particularly to congratulate the Officer Commanding the Auck-. land District and his staff on the ad-" mirable arrangements that had been.' made, which ensued the success achieved."
Before Justices this morning .i Terr!-, lorial was fined 30s, and costs 14s, for bringing intoxicants into camp. He was cautioned that a heavier penalty^ would bejiuposcd next time.
