ASHBURTON MOTHERS' UNION.
The annual picnic of the Ashburton branch of the Mothers' Union was held to-day. The weather was ideal for picnicking, and the occupants of the various vehicles which left St.. Stephen's School at 9 o'clock this morning, for Longbeach, had a delightful drive. Complete arrangements had. been made for a day of : thorough pleasure, 1 and'the time was spent in the usual picnic fashion. Various forms of amusement were indulged in, and not the least pleasureable part of the outing was an inspection of the beautiful grounds and gardens of the Longbeach Estate and promenading on the beach.
