1.5 p.m. Tlie city is quiet. AH the morning small patrols of mounted specials appeared but aronsed.no demonstration.

The patrol attended at Hey Wood's stables early, this 1 morning in ■ consequence ef an announcement that the drivers were resuming, but there was no disorder.

The pickets were active in some quarters, and induced a few drivers to come out.

The Summer Borough Council employees remained at work. It is reported tha.t pickets interfered with the carriage of goods on one or two occasions, but no violence was used, the presence of the patrols probably having a. restraining effect.

The Citizens' Committee met to arrange details for the complete opening of the ports. A number of carters have returned to work, and -some froo labour is .being used.
