COUNCIL'S CARTERS RESUME. HOTELS TO REMAIN OPEN.

The .municipal carters have all resumed, and no' further difficulty is anticipated, as the strike leaders assented." Representatives of the licensed victuallers interviewed the Mayor and protested against the closing of thi> hotels; as suggested by the Strike Committee. They pointed out that no disorders occurred, and ■ no drunkenness was visible. The Mayor said that nothing had occurred to warrant the closing of hotels, and he hoped the licensees would : do their utmost to prevent drunkenness. '
