HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.

WELLINGTON, April 7

The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable message from the High Commissioner, dated London, April 5. '..The' quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on the spot: Frozen Meat.—Mutton—The market is firm in anticipation of small arrivals; Canterbury, 4£d; North Island, 4£d. Lamb—The market is very firm on account of the small supply; Canterbury, 6sd; other( than Canterbury, 6Jd. Beef.—The market is quiet with supplies of River Phvbe heavy; New Zealand hindquarters, 3fd; forequarters, 3£<3. The River Plate shipments received during the month of March, 1913, were:*— London carcases, mutton 61,497, lamb 16,542; Liverpool, carcases 144,524, 87,549 ,- Cardiff, carcases 7,988, 200; Hull carcases; 8,835, —; Southampton, carcases 13,789, 6,723; Newcastle, carcases 15,699, 509; Ireland, carcases 1i724>-;41; totals, 254,056, 110,564; Totals for March- 1912— 271,024, 70,602. f - Butter—The market is • firm for best quality, but there is only a limited; demand for the poorer grades; choicest 'New Zealand, per cwt., 117s; 'Australian and Argentine, 108s;;.
