It is officially stated that the Bulgarians had fifteen thousand killed and wounded ■during the five days' fighting at Lule Burgas and Bunar Hissar.

A surgeon .from Chorlu declares that lie jney.er saw a battlefield so entirely covered with dead and wounded. There was no possible succour; it was simply appalling and a mere shambles. Meanwhile detachments' of cavalry hashed amongst the wounded fiigitives, •driving them' back to Mukhtar Pasha's force, which was also being strengthened from Rodosto, in the hope of tivni■jng the Bulgarian position.
