THE GOVERNOR'S FAREWELL.
Owing to .the fact that Parliament ■" did not rise yesterday, .and that he is ■ suffering from a chill, his Excellency Lord Islington will not reach Christ-- ■ churcli till to-morrow. In company with Lady Islington his Excellency will - visit the Canterbury Jockey Club's races, and in the evening will be en- 'v tertained by the municipal authorities F in the City Council Chambers.
The Hon. James Allen will be tho principal speaker at the conversazione to be given by the Dunedin City Coun r ' " cil to tho Governor on Monday evening ' : next.
Extensive preparations are being made to farewell the Governor from Auckland. The proceedings include a ' procession of yachts and power boat c o i ' the harbour, in which their Excellencies will take part. Tho Mayor of Auckland received tho following telegram from the Governor's private secretary yesterday:—"l am directed & by their Excellencies to say that Fridavfy evening, November 29th, will be sot ' r apart at your request for "the citizens* ' farewell, lv the Town Hall."
