SHEEP-SHEARING CONTEST.
■In a sheep-shearing contest with Lester machines for the championship of Australia and a stake of £100, ten sheep each, there were six contestants from various States, including J. Bieman, of New Zealand. The latter was beaten m the first heat by Ross., Victoria, who cut out two and a,half sheep ahead. The final was between F. Biem.in, South Australia, and Ross. The former finished m 23min 51 l-ssec, and Ross m 24min 12sec.
