COFFIN SET ON FIRE

Some miscreants at tho cemetery of Pere-la-Chaise opened the coffin of Madame Lantelme, the Actress, who was drowned m the 1 Rhine m July, and stole her jewels, including a pearl necklace valued at 400,000 francs. During the subsequent police investigations it was elicited that the, men who were digging attempted to ventilate the grave by dropping m lighted newspapers. The shroud accidentally ignited, and set the, coffin ablaze, and the firemen had to be summoned:
