I IMPORTANT LOCAL PURCHASE.

FABMS IN ASHBURTON DISTRICT

Mr John D. Ritchie, Chairman of the

Board of Land Purchase Commissioners, passed through Ashburton to-day. He was met m Ashburton by a representative of the New Zealand Farmers' Cooperative Association, and .while her,e Mr Ritchie completed the purchase, for the Dominion Government, of Mr G. V "W. Leadley's " YaluendaV^Estate, situ-, ated at Wakanui, about nine-miles from Ashburton, and containing 2305 acres. It is the intention of the Government to subdivide- this splendid property, i and a "Guardian" reporter was informed that: it would be cut up into ten or eleven farms, which will be ooen for selection about April 1, 1912. This property is eminently suited for subdivision, being well intersected by roads. f^Tke land itself varies considerably m 'quality, and comprises about 900 acres of good agricultural land, the balance of 1400 acres being good medium plains.
