BOXING.
AUCKLAND,. August 10. At a meeting of the Northern Boxing Association, Mr Burke, manager of the Auckland team which competed in the recent championships, asserted that the New Zealand Council was neither of use nor ornament. Any remit not submitted by the Council themselves was promptly ' thrown out. Hegarty had not competed at the last two championship carnivals, yet he was chosen for the Australian championship held at Auckland. He was defeated there, yet he was vselected for the forthcoming championship, passing over Maxwell, of Taranaki, who had much better claims. ' The Association passed a resolution to support the protest of the Taranaki Association, and to hold another meeting with the object of taking further action.
