RAKAIA LICENSING COMMITTEE.
The Rakaia Licensing Committee sat on Friday, when Mr T.- A. B. Bailey, S.M., presided. There were present Messrs J. Lambie, T. Langley, \V. J. Dickie and T. A. Blackley. The police reports Avere all satisfactory except in the case of the Kirwee, Hotel. The billiard-room there was reported to be in a dirty state, having apparently not been wasted tor some time. The other parts of the house were also in a grubby condition. The Committee decided to warn the licensee that unless improvement was made, it would consider the non-re-newal of the license in June next. The police also reported that repairs were necessary to the Darfield Hotel. The Committee ordered the licensee" to carry these out before its June meeting. The application for a permanent transfer of the license of the Methven Hotel from James Lorgelly to A. H. Guthrie was withdrawn, on the application of Mr Hoban, and a tenfporary transfer to Timothy Twomey was granted.
A permanent transfer of the license of the Darfield Hotel from W. H. Young to A. It. Johnston (Mr Hunter) was granted. A conditional license was granted to H. J. Potton, licensee of the Springfield Hotel, for the Malvern Collie Dog Trials on the 20th and 21st of April.
