AMERICA.
A quantity of dynamite exploded on a New York suburban pier. Seven men were killed, and soven were fatally injured. Fifteen are unaccounted for.
The whole city was shaken. The lighter loading the explosive vanished utterly. A second lighter sank, and two men were drowned.
A British barquentine was stripped of .her rigging, and a sailor was killed on the deck.
A second car filled with dynamite had the roof blown off, but the dynamite did not explode.

An engine-driver was blown off his footplate and lulled by the fall. Several men were blown into the harbour, but were rescued.
