MAYFIELD NOTES.

A very welcome rain fell on Monday, and will be of great benefit to turnip crops and gardens. The previous dry weather had caused vegetables to lose the freshness they, had been showing. Shearing" is well forward in this district, most of the larger flocks having been cut out. .

The fall of rain, as registered by the guage at the school, measured 56 points. On Sunday evening at the Methodist Church, the Rev. Mr Standage conducted a memorial service'in connection with the late Mrs J. Dellow. Appropriate hymns were sung and Miss G. Dellow presided as the organ.—Own correspondent.
