EVADING THE CUSTOMS.
Per Pross Association. WELLINGTON; September 29. Anton Pedersen, a carpenter on the Norwegian steamer Thyra, now, m Wellington, was charged at the Police Court to-day with knowingly harbouring uncustomed goods ; namely, 191bs of tobacco, 25 cigars, and one bottle of whisky, of a total value of £4 16s 6d. A fine of £7 10s was imposed ; m default, fourteen days' imprisonment An order was made for the forfeiture of the goods. Jacob Halvorsen, the second engineer of the Thyra, was charged with being found m possession of :121bs of uncustomed tobacco and two' bottles of whisky, valued at £4 Bs. The Magistrate fined him £10. with an alternative of fourteen days' imprisonment. An order was also made for the goods to. bo forfeited.
