The late Mr John Gilmour, of Greenstreet, who was buried in the Ashburton cemetery on Thursday, was well known in Dunsandel, Wakanui and Tinwald. He had been a member of the Greenstreet School Committee from the time he took up his residence in the district until within two months of. his death. His death caused universal sorrow in the district, for his cheery disposition had . made him a friend of young and old. On the day of his.funeral the school was closed and the flag was at half-mast, as a last token of respect. ;.
