It appears that a citizen of another country has made a claim on the New' Zealand Government, through the Imperial Government, to the extent of about £500,000, Tho Government of the country m question referred the matter to a, committee, which unanimously decided to press the claim. The Imperial Govornmont is asking for a sottlep»&nt of the matter, and as it involves "important legal questions "which have been the subject of consideration for some time, the Cabinet has decided that the Solicitor-General shall -go Homo for the purpose of consulting with the Imperial Crown Law officers? as the British Government hay request-: ed that a settlement be arrived at.
