THE UNEMPLOYED.
The trustees of the Hyman Marks' estate have made a generous offer to the 'Christchurch City Council. They propose to give a £ for £ subsidy on moneys expended m the wages of 25 men for two months, and this offer has been.gladly accepted. Mr G. Laurenson, member for Lyttelton, has written to the Mayor of Christchurch stating. that he- will be very pleased to join with his fellow member's m urging upon the Government the necessity for assisting local bodies m providing relief works for the pnernployed.
