BREACHES OF AWARDS.

OHRISTCHTJRCH,- June 16. A special sitting of the Magistrate's Cijjirt was held this afternoon to'deal with Arbitration and Conciliation matters. H. Gill, admitted four charges of failing to pay employees the minimum wages prescribed by the,; Hotel and Restaurant Employees award. The defendant said that it was a pure error on his part, and ho undertook to pay the arrears. The magistrate imposed a fine of 20s and costs on each charge. Charles James Jones pleaded guilty to paying a boy less than the minimum wage stipulated by the Timber Yards and Sawmillers' award,: and to paying a carpenter less, than is prescribed in the Carpenters' award. Ho was fined 20s and costs on charge. C. Wilson admitted paying two plasterers less than the minimum rate of .wages, and was fined 20s and costs on each charge, while two, men for accepting under the rate of wages were each fined 20s and costs.
