Per Pr«fis Association. AUCKLAND, June 16. , William Symonds, who has been captain of the ketch Tukua for the past three years, dropped dead on the deck of "his vessel to-day at Auckland. He had complained recently of pains m his head and of sudden attacks of sickness, but had not been seen by a medical man* WELLINGTON, June 16. George Brown, while working a paper-cutter at the factory of C. M. Banks and Co., Ltd., to-day, got his arm under a heavy knife, and had ms hand cut off above the wrist. He was taken to the hospital. Brown is twenty years of age. TIMARU, June 17. Mr H. J. Mathers met with a painful accident at the Timaru woollen mill yesterday. He was engaged with a whitewash sprayer at tlio mill, when a pipe attached to it burst, and a jet of the wash struck Mr Mathers in the eyes, blinding him temporarily. It was at first thought that he would lose the sight of his right eye, but last night his medical attendant was able to give reassuring information that the sight would not be lost.

Sergeant Fouhy has received the following advice regarding the inquest touching the death of Richard George Napier Orsbourn, the two-year-old-son of George Orsbourn, who was drowned in a sheep-dip at Glenroy on Monday. The inquest was held on Tuesday, before Mr Godfrey Hall, J.P., ActingCoroner, at Glenroy. The evidence went to show that the child' was staying with his grandfather, in the absence of his parents, who were on a holiday, and wag last seen alive at_ 10 a.m. on Monday, when he was playing contentedly at the back of the house. The child was missed shortly afterwards, and on a search being made his body was found by his aunt, near the house, in a sheep-dip, in which there was about five feet or water and dip solution. The child's body was immediately placed in a warm bath, but the attempts at resuscitation proved unsuccessful. The jury returned a verdict that the child met his death by accidental drowning in a sheep-dip, and that reasonable ckre had been taken of the child, no blame being attachable to anyone.
