DAIRY PRODUCE, COOKERY, ETC
Tho exhibition of dairy produce and cookery, although much smaller than it should be m a county like Ashburton, is by no means disappointing m quality. The bacon and hams are particularly good, as also are the butter exhibits. The bread and scones are not uniformly of the best quality; some of the exhibits m the former being dark m colour, and m the latter, too yellow. The preserves are excellent, and the same remark can be applied to tho limited entry of fruit. Cakes and other classes of pastry havo enlisted keen competition, and tho quality of the greater number of the exhibits leaves nothing to be desired.
