TIMARU GRAIN MARKET.
Business m tho local grain markets has been very quiet for the past week, and not much has been doing m wheat. As usual the lack of freight has caused a certain amount of stagnation m trade, for although sellers are active, and willing to do business, buyers cannot operate for the cause mentioned. Offers of good lines have been i made to merchants at prices ranging from 4a 3d to 4s 4d, f.0.b./ but buyers will not go beyond about 4s Id, delivered m Timaru, the difference m prices being just about the commission. Oate are quiet, and what little business that has been done has been on a par with late rates. Potatoes, seem to have eased up a little, and sellers are now inclined to abate their demands for good samples to a figure at which business can be done. ... :
