MR WRAGGE'S WEATHER FORECAST.

Mr Clement L. Wragge gave the fol-j lowing weather forecast to a Guardian reporter yesterday: The pressure of the atmosphere is at present fairly even, but very soon the barometer will begin to fall m response to the approach of the next disturbance, named m honour of " Ngata," "which is at the present time a little to the eastward of Tasmania, and may be .expected to influence New Zealand between June 11 and 19. "Ngata" will be ushered m by north-easterly to northerly winds, which will then shift to the north-west, when we will have north-westerly conditions over the Canterbury Plains, the wind turning to west, then south-west and later to south. Rain will certainly accompany the southerly wind and more snow will fall m the south. The conditions will be more pronounced with the increase of latitude from Auckland. After "Ngata" has passed, the weather, will again be fine, with frost, which may be expected from about June 18 to June 24, and after that another disturbance, which Mr Wragge is calling "Taylor," may be looked for. This disturbance is now about off Cape Leeuwin, and is due here during the last week m June. It may be a little early. At present the air is dry and fine weather may be expected till about the 12th. This prediction Mr Wragge made after he had carefully examined the atmosphere with his spectroscope. There will 'be cold nights until " Ngata " comes up and then rain and squalls. Heavy local squalls are sure to follow the arrival of "Ngata," and these : storms will affect New _ Zealand m accordance witli its physical geography. Tho disturbances observed on the sun last week which caused the earthquakes m Central America, Messina and Singapore are now passing away, but further disturbances are expected, and the next period favourable to action m different parts of the world will be between June 12 and 20, and during that period readers will be much interested m watching the cable news published jn the newspapers.
