A PROTEST.
To the Editor. Sir,—Permit me, a visitor to your town, to give, my experience. I crossed the traffic bridge early this morning from Ashburton to Tinwald on a very light motor bicycle at not more than five miles an hour, having taken special notice of the speed ! regulations of six miles for motors. On approaching the bridge from linwald at about 11.20 a.m., I was molested by an individual who commanded me to st'vp ! And m a rude manner, besides a lot of other nonsence, said "lie saw me cross this morning at an excessive speed." I sincerely trust he proves to be no more than an otherwise harmless lunatic at large. Should he, however, be vested with authority and thereby enabled to tyrannise the public, it is only fair to state that he can certainly be no judge of speed, and consequently unreliable to give evidence against supposed offenders. PAUL BOCK. Rakaia, June 8.
