ROAD BOARDS.

ANAMA.

A meeting of the Anama Road Board was held at Hekeao on Monday last. Present : Messrs G. Murdoch, A. Harvey, and G. Harrison. Mr Murdoch was voted to the chair. Leave of absence for the meeting was granted to Mr Nosworthy man of the Board), who wrote m. reference to the Ashburton County Council's proposed conference to consider the question of abolishing Road Boards; giving his opinion that the existing Road Boards should be retained. —The Board considered that a majority of the ratepayers were of the same opinion as Mr Nosworthy, and it was resolved to reply to the Council's invitation to send a representative to the conference, "That this Board does not consider it necessary to be represented at the conference." Mr T. B. Richards applied to have 50, chains of the north-east end of Valetta road shingled, and some patching done on the road to Westerfield. —The Clerk was instructed to inspect the road, and have any necessary patching done as soon as possible, if Mr Richards will provide shingle at convenient distances.
