CONSEQUENCES OF A COLLISION.
CHRISTCHURCH, June 7. On the night of Saturday^May 22, a motor-car driven by MrD. Adams came into collision with the Belfast coach near the Styx, with serious results. It is alleged that the coach'was. on the wrong side of the road; and that both drivers pulled to the: opposite side to avert ah accident. The shaft of- the coach penetrated the glass screen m front of the car, and buried itself into the cushion of the front seat of the car, passing between Mr Adamsi and Miss Sapsford, who was seated with him. The glass shattered m many pieces, and one piece struck the young lady m the eye. At first it was thought that the injured eye could be saved, but ultimately it wasv found necessary to perform an operation and remoyeiit. This was successfully done, but it is feared that the sight of the other eye will be destroyed.
