GORE, June 7. The first snow of the year fell yesterday, and was accompanied by a strong gale and rain. The weather has been very cold to-day and yesterday, and cold showers are Tailing to-day. •
A telegram from Dnnedin states that there were light falls of snow on Sunday morning, and the surrounding high hiiJs were thickly coated m white, A Peel Forest correspondent states' I that the wontlier has been exceptionali ly fine, mul the. frosts have been very [ slight. Grass is plentiful, and stock are looking better than they have looked for many years. Farmers have all their work wll m hand. The weather broke en Friday,, and heavy stendy. rain fell fr>r twentv-foiir hours, the fall amounting to 2.12 in. ;
