ACTION OF THE UNDERWRITERS.

The principal underwriters insuring Australian produce have, Mr Cbghlan, Agent-General for New South Wales, to make representations to the' Australian Governments regarding the unsatisfactory taanner of handling frozen meat m. Australia. The underwriters state that unlessthe Governments compel better handling thojf will bo forced to discontinue* underwriting altogether, or to raiso-. the. rates to such an extent as to make' business impossible. They suggesjt compulsory inspection at the ship's sidei and insulated conveyance between the* freezing works and the ship, on. the* plas followed m New Zealand.
