AUCKLAND, Juno 4 The only student of Auckland University College who had the honour of having the M.A. degree conferred upon him this year is Mr E. Chitty, who won the distinction under most exceptional/circiimstances m that he has ibeen totally blind since birth. In referring to the fact at the capping cere- ; mony to^ay-, Mr J. W. Joynt (Registrar of the University of New Zealand) I classed itas one of the most remarkable achievements over recorded m New Zealand. When Mr Chitty had his B.A. degree conferred upon'him two I years ago, he (the speaker) said it wa's! a very remarkable performance, but i now he would go further nnd say his i subsequent success wss not only re- i markable, but extraordinary,
