EFFECT ON BRITISH TRADE

The French Customs Committee dei dares that 87 per cent of the value of British exports to France will not be ' affected by the projected revision of the tariff, except where duties are lowered, while the average surcharge on British trade will be scarcely one-half per cent. I LONDON, February 25. In the House of Commons, Mr Winston Churchill informed Mr Jesse Collings that observations had been invited from the principal Chambers of Commerce and trade associations of the United Kingdom concerning the probable effect cf the revised French tariff. He added that it was undesirable at present to make a statement regarding any further action which might be found expedient or practicable, but the matter was receiving the. most earnest attention of the Government.
