CRICKET.
THOMAS MEMORIAL CUP MATCH
The first competition cricket match m connection with the Thomas Memorial Cup was played on Thursday afternoon between teams representing the I3anks and Professions and the Auctioneers. The former team was captained iiv Mr P. H. Cox, and the Auctioneers by Mr W. G. Roberts. At the beginning of the match, it was thought that the competition would be evenly contested, but subsequent play showed that the Auctioneers were superior, and that team won with a large number ol runs to spare, ac the scores show. Members of both teams sat down to a luncheon m the pavilion rooms, the Rev E. Whitehouse presiding- A toast to the memory of the late Mr David Thomas was proposed, and honoured n silence.
