BAND CONTEST.
Per Press Association. HASTINGS, February 25. Large and appreciative audiences have attended all the events, and the financial success of the band contest is assured. The gates at the garden party on Tuesday realised £92, and the quickstep contest £160. The total takings to date, including competitors' fees and season tickets, amount to £430. The first tests, A and B grades, will bo held to-night at the racecourse, winch will be electrically lighted. The weather is fine, and a record attendance is anticipated. At the band contest the E-nat bass competition was won by A. Gunner (Petone) with 81 points; S. Signal (Wanganui) 80, was second, with E. S. Vensen (Stratford) third with 79. The B-flat bass competition resulted: W. Penliall (Wangumii) 73; G. Clayton (Gisborne), 66. ■
