ALLEGED SLY GROG-SELLING.
NEW PLYMOUTH, February 24. Judgment was given by Mr Fitzherbert, S.M., this morning, m the case of the Police v. Crawford, m which the defendant was charged with selling liquor m a prohibited area, to wit>, Native land at Awakino. Mr Quilhm, defendant's counsel, raised the point that Awakino was Crown land, and, therefore, not included m the area proclaimed under the Licensing Act. The Magistrate upheld this point, and dismissed the information.
