THE FROZEN MEAT MARKET.
LONDON, February "22. Frozen Meat.—The Frozen Meat Trades Association's Smitbneld market quotations for the under-mentioned classes of frozen moat arc based on actual sales of not less than 100 carcases of mutton or lamb or 25 carcases of beef of fair average quality. Theso quotations aro not for selected lines, but for parcel:; fairly representative of (ho bulk of the shipments now on the market : Mutton—Canterbury, light ;S 11-lGd, medium 3£d, heavy 3id; Southland 3 7-16 d; Nbrth Island, best brands 3i|d ; Australian heavy 2|d, light 3 ]l-16d. Lamb—Canterbury j light and medium, 5 9-1 Gil; heavy, sd; Southland unchanged. North Island, 5Jd; Australian, best" 4Jd; fair quality, 3Jd ; inferior, 3^d". Beef— Forequarters 2 11-16 d, hindquarters 3jUl. River Plate mutton, heavy 2Jd, light 3gd ; beef, forequarters 2£d, hinclquai'teiYi 3 -lad. New Zealand beef is unchanged. Australian, forequarters 2 11-16dj hindquarters 3-Jcl. GRAIN. Wheat.—Fourteen thousand quarters Australian, March-April shipment, sold at 38s 3d per quarter, and a cargo at 38s 4-id per quarter. The total quantities of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom amount to 3,775,000 quarters, and for the Continent to 2,640,000 quarters. Atlantic shipments are 165,000, and from Pacific ports 15,000 quarters. The total shipments to Europe for the week amount to 1,280,000, including 731,000 from Argentine and Uruguay.
