An influential deputation of Catholics headed by Archbishop Bourne, protested aganst the new regulations which ,jM wfs stated, must destroy the denominational character of the training colleges Sir H. CampbeU-Bannerman and Mr McKenna maintained the equity of the regulations, and declared that it was mdesired to impair the present character of Se colleges. If the regulations did destroy the colleges, the situation would be Considered, but the Government claimed for them, a fair trial.
