TINWALD TOWN BOARD.

A meeting of the Tinwald Town Board was held last night. Present—Messrs Williams, J. Hampton, J. A. Clothier, and D. Teppett. Apologies for non-attendance were received from the chairman (Mr Doherty), and Mr 'Williams was voted to the chair.

Correspondence was read: From the Manager of the Union Bank, asking that a resolution should be passed as to the overdraft. The matter was left in the hands of the chairman to arrange. From Messrs Mitchell and Turner, asking for permission to erect an advertising board at the gravel reserve. Resolved that the application be granted. From the secretary of the InvercargiU Tradesmen as to a general half-holiday advocating local decision. —Received From Charles Hawkins, M. Laffey and G. Osborne, asking that alterations be made on the valuation roll. Resolved that the alterations be made on the usual conditions. . . From the Tyree 'Automatic Spraying Company, forwarding circulars.—Received. „,!!! 1 The inspector reported that he had found the township in a satisfactory condition, but he had drawn the attention of occupiers to trees overchanging the. footpaths and promises-of attention had been given. - It was resolved that the surveyor should write to the Railway Department, asking for an increased waterwi.y across the railway near the Mount Somors railway crossing. Mr Teppett reported that the fence to the gravel reserve had been repaired. Resolved—That a notice board be plr.c- ---! cl on the reserve, warning persons not Ito tie horses to the fence. It was resolved to employ a,man for a few ssHe days to tako the names of persons who persisted in tying horses to the fence. It was decided that the matter of planting the reserve- should be left in the hands of of Mr Teppett. Attention was drawn to the dilapidated condition of culverts. Resolved— That the occupier be notified to renew them, or remove them. It was decided to defer the work of regarding portion of Archibald Street until next season. . • The chairman was authorised to procure a quantity of poisoned grain, to •bo left with Mr Clothier for distribution to ratepayers. , . ■ It was resolved to construct a lord across Melcombe Street near Fitzgerald's.
