United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph CHRISTCHURCH.Feb 1 For stealing a horse and saddle, two bicycles, and sundries Alexander Harwood was sentenced to six months' hard labour. Dunedin, Fe*b. 2. At the Bakers' Conference a delegate enquired if it was intended to ask the Government to regulate the price of bread. The President replied in the negative. Mr Laurenson said that until the scale of rates laid down by the last Conference was given a fair trial, they should not worry the Government. ' So far as Dunedin was ooncerned, no increase was anticipated. Meanwhile they had been subjected to a good deal of adverse criticism through ignorance. The output was not the same as it was years ago, and consequently the cost of production had increased. Mr Budd said the scale worked well in Timaru. A Committee was appointed to consider the matter.
