Received Feb. 1,11.60 p.m.
London, Feb. 1 The''Daily Telegraph's" Tokio correspondent reports that the Russian casualties in the recent fighting are estimated at between 36,000 and 42,000. The Japanese casualties were 7000. The Russians advanced 12 miles south from Chintanho. The Japanese success was achieved by a brilliant dash at the Russian centre, which for a time was actually pierced. The Russian retreat then became a rout. They fled 7| miles north of Chodas, leaving 10,000 dead on the field. The pursuit was tenaciously maintained. Apparently fighting has now ceased, but the Japanese position is decidedly strengthened.
