Help Asked for the Strikers
London, Jan. 31 The matter of Balliol, Dr Clifford, Canon Scott Holland, George Meredith, Sir Frederick Pollock, Dr Spence, Dean of Gloucester, William Watson, the well known poet, and other prominent men appeal for fund* to relieve the .Russian strikers, who are facing want and death ia the hope of win* ning liberty. A committee of Russian 'reformers has^ invited English financial aid. The '• Daily Mail" denounces the mischievous appeal, which, it declares, will help to justify the unfounded accusations brought by the Russians against England.
