A. middle-aged man, whose name is believed to be Deavoine, committed su'Cido in Albert Park, between six and seven o'clock this evening by shooting himself through the head with a revolver. He pat th« birrel in his mouth, and the bullet p-.ssed out at the back of his head, death being apparently instantaneous. Nothing is known regarding the man except that he was a fish hawker and a Frenchman. He is said to have attempted t'> shoot himself in the same park about a fortnight ago. A fatal aooident occurred on Monday night iB r Hastings, a waggon driver named James f*eary being killed, apparently by falliDg from a waggon, the wheels of ■which had parsed over his neck, which was br"lcen, and there were severe bruises about the bedy. The body was discovered on the Maraekakho road. About a chain further on, a six-horse waggon was found with some of the horses tied to the fence at the roadside. Information was subsequently received that a native had found the korses entangled in the harness, and had cut them loose and tied them up The native was summoned to attend the inquest, hafc did not do so.
