NORTH CANTERBURY v. SOUTH CANTERBURY.
This match was commenced at Lancaster Park yesterday. Orchard captained the northerners, and Lynch led the southern men. Lynch won the toss, and opened the Southerners' innings with Orr, of Ashburton, the innings closing for 330. Following are the scores :— South Canterbury.—First Innings—T. Lynch 20, P. L. Orr 42, A. Barron 119. C. Cr. G. Harper 2,8, H. White 21, B. R. McDonald 3, Wicksteed 0, Montgomery 40, W. J. Owen 10, J. Brown 13, Dalgloish 15; Byes 19. Ohrtstchurch, Feb. 26 North Canterbury were all out at the lunch adjournment! for 167—Strange 56. Dalgleish did the hat trick, and took severn wickets for 34 runs. The match Ashburton High School v. Tinwald 2nd. which was to have taken place yesterday, has been postponed till next Thursday, as the ground was yesterday oocupied by the Christchurch grooers' picnic party.
