Ashburton Live Stock Market.

At the Tinwa'd i a-ds to-day there was again a very large yarding of stock. The attendance of farmers and others was large. The salo was a dragging one from start, to finish. The cattle pens were filled with a lot of good, young cattle, which sold at about late rates The fat pens were not well finished, but brought full values.; The fat sheep pens were full to overflowing, find prices suffered a drop of quite Is 6d per head. Many lines were passed unsold. Owing to the store cattle sale not starting at the prompt time of 10 o'clock, the sale for fat sheep was late m .beginning. The following are some of the prices:— Cattlf. - Store cattle—Heifers and calf £5 17s fid, dry cows £3 to £7 15s, springers £7 10s to £7 15s, 18 months old cattle £i 19s 2 year old .£3 18s to £G, 17 cows and calves M 10s bull £3 55.. Fat cattleHeifers £5 5s to £6 18s 6d, Steers .£5 12s to £6 18s 6d, cows £4 to £7 7s 6d. Shekp.—Fat Sheep—Crossbred ewes 8s 7d to 15s 3d, merino ewes and wethers 7s : 6d to 9s 2d, two-tooth crossbred ewes and ■wethers 14s 9d to 15s 2d. Lambs 12s 9dto 14s <)d. Store Shoep.—Two-twooth. ewes and wethers 10s 3d to 14s lid, crossbred lain b 5 11s to 12s 9d, crossbred ewes and latnb;, all counted, 7s 7d to 9s.
