Coronation Celebrations.
Uni ted ress Association —By Electric Telegraph #Sydnet June 27 A large number of poor people yesterday were regaled with a Coronation dinner, and also the inmates of the Asylums and Ragged school. Large quantities of bread, meat, and plum pudding were distributed. Adelaide, June 27 Yesterday was pretty generally observed as a holiday. Besides the intercessory services, which were largely attended, the only public demonstration was a gathering of school children. Twenty-two thousand assembled m the various parks and celebrated the Coronation. Me&boubne, June 27 The delay m announcing the postponement of the celebrations was unfortunate. Huge holiday crowds throughout the day wandered aimlessly about the. city. There was considerable rowdyism at night. The Coronation feasts for the poor m the city and suburbs were held to-day, large numbers participating. The Mayor of Melbourne also entertained ten thousand school children at the Exhibition building.
