A SCENE IN PARLIAMENT

_ _ Sydney, October 25 A question was asked in the Legislative Assembly to-day, whether prior to the last general election copies of Hansard containing the speech of Sir Gr. JR. Dibbs on the hanging of Montgomery and Williams, for a violent assault on the police, were distributed in the Tamworth. electorate at the country's expense. Mr j. N. Brunker, the Colonial Secretary, replied tbat fifty copies were so sent. Sir Gr. R. Dibbs then walked across the chamber to where Mr Brunker sat, and is reported to have said, " This dirty work is got up by the Government. You have a lot of dirty sneaks here, and if you are guilty of putting them up to this, you ought to have been hanged long ago." The Colonial Secretary complained to the Chair, and then followed the exPremier, who was leaving the Chamber, and threatened to chastise him if he repeated the insults. Sir G. K. Dibbs invited him outside to try. The intervention of members prevented active hostilities.
