MOUNT HUNT.

The monthly meeting of the Board was held on August 10. Present— Messrs Cameron, Murdosh, Aynsley, and VVal lice. Mr D, Brick wrote offering to sell ha'.f an acre of knd, and the Board 1 decided to ask if he would not seli one acre for a shingle pit. Ifc waa resolved to call tenders for the next meeting for ► hingling about forty chains of the Lyndhurat road, levillinst ruts on the eatne roid and on the Urrall road, f<>r rcshingling about 60 chains of tho West i ' C jast road, also for renewing the pound fance whore required, and clearing shingle on the Lakaia gorga cutting?. Under existing circumstances the Board decided that they could take no steps with regard to £to rm water on the Chertsey road. The Commissioner of Croirn Lands, .Christchurch, wrote that he had no authority to pay any thirds ] except to tihe Ashburton County Council, j It was therefore decided to apply to that Council for the thirds accrued on Mr James McFarlann's sections for road making. The Ashbarton County Council wrote that they had not control of the road to Rakala gorge bridge. It was decided to write to them respecting the fence on the cuttings. It was also decided to write to Mr Friedlander and the railway authorities respecting the gorse on the railway road at Lyndhurst. Tenders were accepted for repairs, Barker's road and Marr's road, J. Black, £10 ; carting boulders, Cnertsey road, J. Black, Is 3d per yard ; repairs, Boundary road, J. Blaok, 2s per chain; grubbing gorse, etc., J. Larkin, £4 10v It was decided to plant shrubs and ornamental trees in the vacant places in the Domain plantations, also to plant some groups of trees in the paddock.
