The Bombay Riots.

Bombay, August 12. The turmoil continues, and the riots are the most serious ever known here. The Artillery commands the streets, and Lancers have been ordered from Poonah. The Blue Jackets have been landed from the warship. Desultory skirmishes have taken place at night, and six people have been killed and a hundred injured. Four Hindoo temples and two mosques have been wrecked, and the Mahoanmedan quarters have been looted. Volunteers have been ordered to hold themselves in readiness to assist in maintaining order. Lord Harris, Governor of Bombay, has wired to the Viceroy that the riots will probably continue for some days, but he declares that there is no ground for alarm. (Received August 14, 10.50 a.m.) Bombay, August 13. The troops were obliged to fire upon and charge the rioters. Collisions were frequent iv several parts of the city. Three hundred armed policemen and railway hands are assisting the troops. Two hundred rioters have been taken prisoners. Lord Harris returns immediately.
