Stabbing Cases at Wellington.
Wellington, August 12 A Gorman named Mossner was brought into town from Levin this afternoon by a constable on a charge of stabbing an Italian named Goltano Mari. The two men were mates aud slept at the Temperance Hotel last night. Two other men had beo<i in the room. Maria was stabbed three times in the back with a pocket knife while in bed, but none of the wounds are supposed to be serious. Mossner has been declared a dangerous lunatic, and remanded to the asylum. August 13 Yesterday afternoon a collision took place on Adelaide road between a cart driven by a Chinese gardner named |Lee Long and an expressman named Hindle. The latter was arrested on a charge ©f drunkenness, and subsequently a friend of his created a row with Lee Long. The Chinaman was badly worsted, and in defence drew a pocket knife and stabbed his assailant, John Matthews, in the neck, inflicting a wound half an inch deep, btt not of a dangerous character. Lee Long was also arrested. He is in a very weak state.
