THE WORLD'S FAIR.
Washington, April 30. I President Cleveland and the entire I Cabinet, together with the foreign delegates, have assembled at Chicago to take part in the ceremony in connection with the opening of the World's Fair. Washington, May 1. A thief stole Columbus' ashes from the Chicago Exhibition and decamped with his booty, but it was eventually recovered by a watchman who pursued him. The Chicago Exhibition is to be opened to-day, although some of the buildings are not yet completed. The delay is attributed to the numerous strikes which have taken place among the workmen. The British collection of pictures is a superb one. Very few of the courts at the Chicago Exhibition will be ready before next month. Sixty divisions in all are completed, while 140 are still in course of construction. The New South Wales display is highly praised by the Commission.
